The advantages catamarans have for the home builder are that they are cheap and relatively simple to build, depending on the design. the hulls can be simple v shaped stitch and glue constructions connected by a timber bridge deck, as in the famous wharram designs. the word, catamaran comes from the. Stitch and glue is a simple boat building method which uses plywood panels stitched together, usually with copper wire, and glued together with epoxy resin.this type of construction can eliminate much of the need for frames or ribs. plywood panels are cut to shape and stitched together to form an accurate hull shape without the need for forms or special tools.. The stitch and glue method uses wire sutures to hold panels together until they can be joined permanently with epoxy and fiberglass tape. the outside of the hull is completely coated with fiberglass or dynel cloth sheathing. all exposed wood is coated with epoxy to encapsulate the boat from sun and sea to retain the excellent characteristics of.
